02 May

Get your walking shoes on and get yourself ready, because May is National Walking Month! This is a campaign to promote all the benefits that walking offers. No matter what your level of fitness is, you’re invited to get moving and walk your heart out. It’s simple to get started and it’s one of the easiest ways to keep fit and lose weight.

There are lots of ways to get involved in this exciting month of pavement stomping. One method is the #Try20, a challenge to take a 20-minute walk every single day throughout May. It might sound easy, but you’d be surprised how often people can skip their daily walks! There are a bunch of great tips to complete this task, such as walking with friends and family, skipping shortcuts, and giving yourself a goal for each walk.

You can also help out by taking part in the Rate Your Walk task. Give details on your everyday walk and help show just how walkable your streets are. Some places can be very difficult to walk on due to poor terrain or placements, so knowing this information may help future walkers thanks to your efforts!

The ones who will benefit the most from National Walking Month are children. Learning to make walking a regular routine will be a HUGE benefit for any kid. It’s healthy, cheap, and more than worth the effort. If you can bring your kids out during May and get them walking, you’ll be helping planting the seeds to a healthy future!

When you and your kids are out and about, Dry Kids is always there to help. When you’re walking in public, you’ll want your kids to be as visible as possible to any bikes and cars.
